LETTERS TO THE WORLD: 02

A Poem To The One Who Will Always Wear My Heart On His Sleeve
Written by Anna Bartling

We were never here.
Lets act as if we,
never attempted to be –
and while that might,
be the truth for you,
it wouldn’t be to me.

If I could change it all,
could set your demons free,
and make you let go,
I would without flinching –
just so you could be with me.

But I can’t make you lose your heart.
You’ll always be the one,
I wish I had met when,
timing was good for falling in love.

Just know,
you meant something to me,
you still do,
and sometimes I still get drunk,
on so sweet memories –
let’s not let them ever get bitter,
it would be such a shame.

Things worth living for:
- falling in love
- seeing friends you haven't seen in a long time
- giant mugs of coffee
- warm hugs on bad days

"You don’t need another human being to make your life complete
but let’s be honest: having your wounds kissed by someone
who doesn’t see them as disasters in your soul,
but cracks to put their love into,
is the most calming thing in this world."
